Bridal FAQs

\ How far in advance should I contact you?

I usually get booked somewhere from 6 months to 2 years in advance, so I’d recommend you booking your beauty services as soon as you can. I will only accept bookings for a specific set date and location, so as soon as you have your wedding date and venue, that’s a great time to book other services.

I’ve also been able to accommodate last minute requests, so please feel free to still contact me if your wedding is in a few weeks or months.

\ How do I book you?

First of all, I’m happy you want to book me! You can see some information about the process here. Then, you can get in touch with me through by email so I can send you my availability and all the details. I will need to know your wedding date, time and venue, as well as the getting ready location. If you have any more additional information you might find relevant, that is also very much appreciated.

\ Where are you based and where do you travel to?

I’m based in Lisbon (more precisely in Paço de Arcos) and I travel anywhere you’ll want me. I request a travel fee and for some locations I also require accommodation and airfare. I can give you a specific quote upon request.

\ When should I book my trial and where does it take place?

This depends on your availability and what best suits you. I’ve had trials a year in advance and even the day before the wedding. If you’re having a destination wedding and you’re traveling to Portugal for your menu tasting or to meet vendors, this would be a great time to book your beauty trial as well. If you’re only arriving the week of the wedding I still recommend booking a trial so we can test everything before the day. For client’s who live in Portugal, I usually recommend doing a trial around 1 to 3 months before the wedding.

I do trials at my home in Paço de Arcos but I can also travel to my client’s hotel or home for this.

\ How long does the trial take and how many styles do we experiment?

The makeup and hair trial takes around 3 hours, depending on how many styles we explore. Before the trial, I will ask you to send me a few inspiration pictures of your prefered styles and on our appointment I’ll also ask you a few questions about your dress and your wedding. We can try 1 to 3 makeup and hair looks on the trial, so we can explore some styles and also have a smooth decision making process.

\ Can I do a trial with you first and decide later if I want to book you for my wedding?

Yes. You can book a trial with me and decide within a week if you want to proceed with your booking for your wedding day. As long as you have a wedding date set and I’m available, we can book your trial.

\ How long does it take you to do my beauty preparations on my wedding day?

I always create a schedule before the wedding day so that everyone knows their allocated time. I will also arrive around 20 minutes earlier to set up and start on the scheduled time. On average, I like to have around 2 hours and 30 minutes for the bride when doing makeup and hair. The bridal party services take around 45 minutes per person per service. I also recommend finishing all beauty services one hour and a half before you need to leave for the ceremony or first look. This will allow you to have some time to get dressed and photographed, and be relaxed before the ceremony. I believe this time is vital for you.

\ Do you work with a team if I have a large bridal party?

Yes, I work with a team of very professional talented makeup and hair artists I trust for a larger bridal party. I always take care of the bridal preparations myself, doing the bride’s makeup and hair both on the trial and wedding day. My team will take care of your bridal party.

\ Are all the pictures in your website your own work?

Absolutely. Every picture you see on this website is my own makeup and hair work, unless it’s a group picture of a bridal party. In that case, some bridesmaids and mothers may have been prepared by an artist on my team.

\ What’s your experience with bridal beauty?

As you can read here, I have a vast experience particularly with bridal beauty. I’ve been a makeup and hair artist for over 8 years and I’ve always worked with brides and bridal parties, as well as other clients. This is my main area of business and I help 200+ women get ready every year, so over my career I’ve been able to really explore all sides of wedding beauty. I often joke that there’s really nothing I haven’t seen working with brides over the years.

\ What products do you use?

I like to use a diversified range of high quality products and brands that I think will suit all my clients. I work mainly with brands like NARS, MAC Cosmetics, Make Up For Ever, Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Estee Lauder, Urban Decay, Chanel, Glossier, Natasha Denona, Dyson, GHD, Babyliss Pro, L’Oreal Professionnel and Shwarzkopf.

\ Do you work with every skin colour and hair type?

I only believe in feminism and beauty that involves all women, so being inclusive and working with every skin/hair colour, shape, type and condition imaginable is extremely important to me. I’m very proud that I get to work with women from all over the world, with different ethnicities and skin colours. You can see examples of my bridal work here.

\ Do you offer or rent hair extensions?

I do not offer or rent hair extensions. In my opinion, this should be sourced before the wedding and be completely personalised to you - I often advise on having them coloured and cut to match your style, and this is why I wouldn’t be able to rent them to you. I definitely recommend you using hair extensions on your wedding if you want more volume.

\ Are false eyelashes included in my service?

Yes if you’re a bride. False eyelashes are included in your makeup service for any event, wedding day and trials. For bridal party services, false lashes are charged on the day. If they bring their own lashes, the application is included in their makeup service

\ How does the makeup and hair last thoughout the day?

The bridal makeup and hair is a specific service that will allow you to have a longlasting look with minimal touch ups. You can cry, dance, hug and your look with stay put with minor changes. There are a few tips I give on the wedding day for taking off the veil and makeup touch ups. I’ll also give you some bobby pins and a sample of your lip colour so you can reaply it during the wedding.

\ When should I wash my hair before the wedding?

Some stylists will say that second or third day hair is best for hairstyling, and I would usually agree, but I believe that you will feel fresher on your wedding day with washed hair, so that’s what I always recommend. That only means I need to put in some extra work and use some more products to get the desired hair texture for styling, but you will feel much nicer and ready for your wedding day.

\ Do you work with LGBTQIA+ clouples?

Absolutely, yes. I’m happy and grateful to work with any person, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity. I have worked with a few gay couples and this is something I look forward to doing more of. So please feel free to get in touch with me, I’d love to be a part of your day!
